Yesterday the Filmmakers’ Lodge at the Sundance 09 hosted a fascinating panel called “Blueprint for Hope” focused on 3 films participating at the festival, “The Reckoning”, “Sergio”, and “Shouting Fire”, and the role films can play in contributing to increased public awareness of ways we can deal with global conflict situations through justice mechanisms like the ICC, or humanitarian work/UN. The SRO high-level panel was introduced by Cara Mertes, ED of the Sundance Documentary Program, and moderated by Paul van Zyl, VP of the ICTJ - the panelists included filmmakers Pamela Yates (The Reckoning), Greg Barker (Sergio) and Liz Garbus(Shouting Fire) and author Samantha Power and civil liberties attorney Martin Garbus.
